Goal
Eight days ending on the last session before a twelve-day holiday. Your storyboard is the break homework, and the A2 brief goes out with it on day 8, so day 8 matters — miss it and you miss the A2 brief. Five days build the vocabulary (narrative, myth, allegory, cycle); the last three turn it into something you make.
How it runs
- Day 1 · Sun 20 Sept ·
U2·L1— the critique flow taught explicitly and cold: describe, account, judge, run on an image nobody has seen. This is a make-up day. - Day 2 · Mon 21 Sept ·
U2·L2— what a narrative image has to solve: find where a still image puts time. - Day 3 · Tue 22 Sept ·
U2·L3— myth as shared shorthand; what happens when the audience does not know. - Day 4 · Wed 23 Sept ·
U2·L4— allegory: separate what is shown from what it stands in for. - Day 5 · Thu 24 Sept ·
U2·L5— reading a cycle across panels, not inside one. LB2 posted. - Day 6 · Mon 28 Sept ·
U2·L6— storyboarding without words: one story, three framings. - Day 7 · Tue 29 Sept ·
U2·L7— make the ten frames; swap and read a stranger’s. CS2 collected. - Day 8 · Wed 30 Sept ·
U2·L8— A2 announced first (Titian against Manet, Thu 15 Oct), then the break homework set: the sequence, 3–4 hours, no more.
Assessment
- LB2 — Wed 2026-09-23, posting from the cycle session.
- CS2 — Tue 2026-09-29, a ten-frame storyboard a stranger can read in the right order, no captions, no dialogue.
- A2 — announced Wed 2026-09-30, debriefed as CS3 on Fri 2026-10-09 in lesson 05.
