Goal
The exploration becomes a commitment. The class critiques the experiment grids, you select your media for reasons you can write down, the selection is tested at real scale, and the scale trial’s failures are fixed. The Stage 3 page then shows the exploration as reasoning, not as a swatch chart.
How it runs
- Mon 10-19 — grids up; group critique of the exploration, protocol on the board, maker speaks last; log the two comments that changed your view.
- Tue 10-20 — “a selection note that earns its choice”: select your media and document them, with chosen strips mounted beside the note; one-to-one sign-offs begin.
- Wed 10-21 → Thu 10-22 — two-day run, one sheet at outcome scale: Wednesday is the scale trial (chosen media at real size on the chosen composition), annotate what scale broke; Thursday is refinement — fix what broke, nothing else, and annotate the fix.
- Fri 10-23 — the Stage 3 page as reasoning: experiments, decision, trial, refinement, in that order; CS6 collected with the selection note.
Assessment
CS6 (Stage 3 page + media selection note, written annotation) is collected Fri 2026-10-23 — see the full register. The selection note names your chosen media in AO language: what this medium does to this theme.
The Autumn Field Trip falls on either Fri 10-23 or Sat 10-24. If it takes the Friday, CS6 is collected the following Monday. The exact day will be confirmed in class.
