Unit 6: Revision and Consolidation
Winter break and Unit 6 schedule
The winter break runs continuously, Thu 2026-12-24 → Sun 2027-01-03, and you return Mon 2027-01-04. There are no classes on Tue 12-29 or Wed 12-30.
Because of this, L14 runs Mon 12-21 → Wed 12-23 only (three days). The content from the lost days is folded into Tue 12-22 (arguments aloud) and into HW2’s targeting rule.
Media Studies · Semester 1 Plan · Unit 6 of 6 · ← Unit 5
Concepts: Four Key Concepts · Technical Elements · Case Study Method
What this unit does
You audit, drill and sit the semester’s knowledge. You turn A4 feedback into targets; you use the coverage matrix to cross every case study against the four Key Concepts and find the gaps HW2 fills over the break; you rehearse the exam until the paper is routine — format, timing, and the mark scheme’s AO economy. Then you sit the full two-hour Component 2 in the school exam window and get back question-level AO data and one-page Semester 2 target sheets.
Numbering note: “U6” here is the S1 calendar band (revision — no coursebook counterpart). L16’s Semester 2 preview “U6 to U8” refers to the coursebook’s separate “Units 1–8” numbering.

Key content
- Coverage matrix: case studies × the four Key Concepts; your weakest cell names your HW2 target.
- Section B craft: rehearse arguments aloud (claim, evidence, counter, response) before writing; minute budgets per section; peer marking, so you read the scheme as a marker at least once.
- Closing data loop: question-level AO breakdowns; one-page target sheets (gap, evidence, action, review date) built to still make sense when you read them in February; grades and comments due Wed 01-20.
