Goal
One long observed study, started and finished without restarting, is the spine of AO1. You build the Stage 1 page, then carry the sustained study across a real two-day run, then support it with focused color and texture work. Stamina is the content.
How it runs
- Sun 09-20 (make-up day) — demo on Stage 1 page architecture: hierarchy, breathing room, annotation placement. Compose your Stage 1 page from Lesson 3’s material; photograph and file it.
- Mon 09-21 — spend five minutes with the source before any mark, then begin the sustained study: light structural drawing, commit to placement. The sheet you start today finishes Wednesday. Cover, do not erase.
- Tue 09-22 → Wed 09-23 — two-day run, one sheet. Tuesday builds the tonal structure; Wednesday resolves edges, surface and depth. There is a midpoint checkpoint each day, and the conference rota runs.
- Thu 09-24 — two focused A5 color and texture studies supporting the main study; CS3 walked progress check against the AO1 descriptors (criteria read aloud, date on the board: Fri 2026-10-09); holiday sketchbook brief.
These dates may shift when the school publishes its calendar for this period.
Assessment
CS3 (sustained-study progress check — walked, not collected; recorded on the rota sheet) sits Thu 2026-09-24, in the same session — see the full register.
